Wig Cap Construction

Wigs have come along way. With today's technology wigs are looking even more realistic everyday. Five types of wig caps will be covered in today's blog, providing you with a better understanding of the differences in construction.

  1. Hand-tied/hand knotted - each strand is hand-tied to the base allowing the hair to be combed in various directions. Ideal for a sensitive scalp and hair loss.
  2. Lace Front - crafted with a sheer lace along the hairline, temple to temple. Each strand is hand-tied along the lace front allowing the hair to be combed away from the face.
  3. Monofilament - each strand is hand-tied to a sheer base usually found at the crown where one can do a middle or side parts creating an illusion of natural hair growth. Some mono tops are doubled for extra comfort.
  4. Basic cap - most affordable option with traditional construction and open wefts allowing for better ventilation, comes pre-styled and can't be altered. Similar construction to the capeless cap.
  5. Capless - lighter weight with wefted rows constructed horizontally allowing ventilation. Wefts are dense with more space between them. Units come pre-styled with a suggested part, which can't be altered.
