A lace wig is a special type of hairpiece crafted with human, synthetic or blended hair fibers hand tied or sewn on sheer lace, which gives the illusion of a natural looking scalp. Lace wigs are constructed in various ways, which includes lace fronts and full lace wigs. Lace front wigs are hair units constructed with a sheer lace along the front hairline from ear to ear, which can be parted as desired or worn off the face. Full lace wigs are constructed with a full sheer cap base, which adds versatility to styling, parting, up-do's, ponytails, side sweeps and much more. Some lace wigs come with excess lace along the hairline, which can be cut specifically to the buyer's unique hairline shape.

Fitted lace units designed for individuals without hair, are crafted to sit smoothly and securely on ones head. Other units can be sewed or glued or taped along the hairline using medical tape or glue, which is safe on the skin.
